Harp
As an instrument, the harp is taught both for solo and chamber music performance at the University of Music Karlsruhe. Orchestral playing is taught through audition training and participation in the university's opera and symphony orchestra projects. In solo literature, major importance is attached to working on sound, adequate playing technique and stylistic as well as authentic interpretation of pieces to achieve balanced programs for solo performances and competition preparation.
An important component in studying harp is chamber music, which is usually done on a weekly basis. Students also engage with contemporary music, including by collaborating with composers in-house. Harp methodology complements the offerings. Skills learned are displayed in university and public class recitals in the Karlsruhe metropolitan area and surrounding region.
Job-related seminars, including law and contractual practice, application techniques, media practice and interview training, are required and complete the range of courses.
