Wolfgang Rihm (1952–2024) Prof. Dr. h. c. Wolfgang Rihm passed away in Ettlingen on the night of 27 July. He was 72 years old. To all those who were close to him personally or professionally, we offer our silent condolences, still in the grip of the sad news. School music competition 2024 decided On Sunday, 7 July 2024, the School Music Competition was decided. The participants in the competition, which has been held at the Karlsruhe University of Music for more than 20 years, presented a variety of solo and ensemble programmes, each lasting three quarters of an hour. The Karlsruhe University of Music mourns the death of Professor Péter Eötvös *2.1.1944 † 24.3.2024 From 1992 to 1998, Professor Péter Eötvös was director of the Ensemble for 20th Century Music and the Institute for New Music at the Karlsruhe University of Music. The Dr Hermann Büttner Piano Competition 2024 has been decided. The first round was dedicated exclusively to the repertoire for solo piano, the second to the interpretation of the Piano Quintet in F minor op. 34 by Johannes Brahms.  Matteo Gobbini received a sponsorship award. He is studying piano chamber music with Andrej Jussow in the third semester of the soloist examination programme.
