Anton Safronov was born in Moscow in 1972. In 1996 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in the composition class of Edison Denisov. He also graduated from graduate school there (1999). Training in Germany with Walter Zimmermann (Berlin University of the Arts) and Wolfgang Rihm (Karlsruhe University of Music), attending master classes with Paul-Heinz Dittrich, Beat Furrer, Peter Ruzicka.

According to family and associates – those who knew and loved him – Heiner Müller was a rather cheerful, good-humored person in his private life. His plays, writings and poems, however, are overshadowed by black clouds. "Optimism," goes one of the most quoted Müller bon mots, "is only the lack of information." Wolfgang Rihm has set a number of Müller's texts to music, including the opera "Die Hamletmaschine" and the song cycle "Ende der Handschrift".
