- Soloist examination (concert examination): This is an in-depth course of study following the Master’s degree.

The university has special institutes.
- Institute for Music Informatics and Musicology (IMWI): This is about music, technology and writing and thinking about music
- Institute for Music Theatre (IMT): This is about the performance of operas and the direction of music theatre or operas.
- State Centre for Music Journalism (IMJ) and Music Informatics (IMWI): Here you learn how to report on music, create radio and television programmes and produce them electronically.
- Institute for New Music (INN): This is all about composing and performing new, contemporary music

Application and admission
Anyone wishing to study at the Karlsruhe University of Music must first apply online on the homepage and must then pass an entrance examination in the subject they wish to study.
