The pianist Alexander Fleischer grew up in Dresden and was honoured early on with numerous prizes at international competitions. He has a busy concert schedule and has performed at numerous international festivals and concert halls, including the lucerne festival, Musikverein Vienna, Wigmore Hall London, Teatro de la Zarzuela Madrid, Liedrezital Zurich, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Philharmonie Köln, Styriarte Festival, Heidelberger Frühling music festival, Konzerthaus Berlin, Palau de la Música Catalana Barcelona, Tongyeong Music Festival (South Korea). He has worked with singers such as Bo Skovhus, Thomas Quasthoff, Christoph Prégardien, Olaf Bär, Johannes Martin Kränzle, Ingeborg Danz, Roman Trekel, Jochen Kupfer, Christina Landshamer, Tobias Berndt, Manuel Walser, Nikola Hillebrand, Olivia Vermeulen, Konstantin Krimmel, Mirella Hagen, Peter Schöne, Jóhann Kristinsson, Andreas Wolf and many more.

Alexander Fleischer studied piano with Prof Birgitta Wollenweber and lied with Prof Wolfram Rieger at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Christa Ludwig, Irwin Gage and Norman Shetler provided important artistic impulses.

Alexander Fleischer is the founder and director of the LIED IN WÜRZBURG festival (www.festival-lied-wuerzburg.de) and the Hirschberger Liedfest (www.hirschberger-liedfest.de).

Radio recordings complement his activities as a Lied pianist and chamber musician.

Alexander Fleischer was artistic assistant to KS Prof. Thomas Quasthoff at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin for over 10 years. He gave masterclasses at the Britten Pears Festival in Aldeburgh (UK) and the Udo Reinemann Masterclasses in Brussels.

Between 2015 and 2024, he taught as a lecturer at the University of Music Würzburg and as Professor of Lied Interpretation at the State University of Music Trossingen.

In 2025, Alexander Fleischer was appointed Professor of Lied Interpretation at the Karlsruhe University of Music.
