
Laura Bollack studied music and maths at the Freiburg University of Music and the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, instrumental pedagogy with jazz piano as her main subject on the master's degree programme in music education at the Freiburg University of Music and jazz singing as her main subject on the bachelor's degree programme in jazz at the Mannheim State University of Music and Performing Arts.
After completing her teacher training at Faust Gymnasium Staufen, she worked as a secondary school teacher for maths and music at Carl-Benz-Gymnasium Ladenburg. Laura Bollack worked as a research assistant at the Freiburg University of Music from 2021 to 2025. As part of her work on the KuMuS-ProNeD digitalisation project (2023-2025), she developed and tested concepts for the use of motion-controlled digital technologies for music lessons in schools. As part of her doctorate at the Freiburg University of Music, Laura Bollack is developing and researching songwriting processes using digital technologies in music lessons at school.
She held teaching positions for jazz/pop singing, practical school piano playing and class singing at the Freiburg University of Music. Laura Bollack worked as a lecturer for jazz didactics at the Jazzcampus of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland in Basel (2023). She was a guest lecturer for ‘Listening & Playing’ (instrumental pedagogy) at the Institute of Classical Music at the Basel School of Music of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (2024). Since September 2024, she has been working as an academic assistant in research and teaching at the Institute of Music at the Fribourg University of Teacher Education. Since March 2025, she has also been working as a research assistant for school music-making practice in the Department of Music Education at the University of Music in Karlsruhe.
Her research and teaching focuses on songwriting (with digital tools) in music lessons (composition pedagogy), digital technologies in music lessons, jazz and pop singing, band practice in jazz/pop, classroom singing, improvisation, jazz and pop didactics (instrumental pedagogy).
