Neue Konzertformate 2024/25

Kunle-Wettbewerb 2024/25
of the Friends of the Karlsruhe University of Music

New concert formats

Under this motto, students from all disciplines at the Karlsruhe University of Music are invited to explore new concert experiences through innovative programme design, to try out new approaches to presentation and communication and thus to expand the traditional concert framework.

Topic

Revolutions change the world - regardless of their success. They release energies that push to overcome the existing system. They want to break up the old, create something new, give space to new ideas and structures. This also applies, for example, to the revolution of 1848/49 and the fall of the German-German Wall in 1989.

The Kunle Competition 2024/25 of the Friends of the Hochschule für Musik would like to take the memory of these historical events and upheavals as an opportunity to invite students at the Hochschule für Musik to develop and implement programmes on the theme of "upheavals and new beginnings". The aim is not to make historical reference, but to take up the idea of upheavals, upheavals and the urge to create something new.

We are looking for programme concepts lasting around 60 minutes that address and implement the theme of "upheavals and new beginnings" in a coherent, coherent and varied way. In addition to musical programme elements, the artistic programme can also incorporate elements from other artistic disciplines, but also seek an innovative approach with, for example, performative, spatial, media, communicative, interactive or participatory elements. The aim is to expand the traditional concert format, to convey the main ideas or content from the programme design and, where possible, to appeal to new audiences.

The task

The development of a 60-minute programme on the topic of "Upheavals and new beginnings", which can also include elements and forms of expression from other artistic disciplines or performative, spatial, media, communicative, interactive or participatory elements. The programme must be realisable under the spatial and technical conditions of the concert hall (MUTprobe 1).

As part of the competition, the 60-minute programme must be shortened to 30 minutes and presented to the jury.

A stage area of approx. 44 square metres is available in MUTprobe 1, which can be arranged variably in the room, taking into account the escape and rescue routes. Information on all other spatial conditions and possibilities can be found in the Technical Rider, which is attached to the invitation to tender.
