Since 2023, the Friends of the Karlsruhe University of Music have awarded the Hans Hachmann Scholarship annually. It is designed to last twelve months and provides a monthly stipend of €300. It is named after Dr. h.c. Hans Hachmann, long-time senior music editor at SWR and chairman of the Friends from 2009 to 2023.

While the scholarship was awarded in the field of music journalism in 2023/24 and in the field of music informatics and musicology in 2024/25, the Friends' Association has announced that the scholarship for 2025/26 will be awarded to the PreCollege. In doing so, the Friends' Association also took into account that young students as external students are often burdened with high travel costs; and the scholarship was also intended to provide relief in this regard.

Five applications and recommendations were submitted to the board of the Friends, which acted as the jury together with Hans Hachmann. The jury decided to divide the scholarship between three students and award them €100 per month each. On December 10, the Hans Hachmann Scholarship 2025/26 was awarded at the “20 Years of PreCollege” anniversary event at the Wolfgang Rihm Forum to pianist Luise Bold, pianist Khongor Buyandalai, and violist Johannes Malpricht.

The Friends congratulate the scholarship recipients and wish them all the best for their future development and artistic training!
