Action Day November 27, 2025 –
ART. POWER. HUMANITY
An internal university event on Campus One
Location: Marstall 2:00–4:30 p.m.
Nationwide Day of Action
To send a clear message against discrimination and abuse of power, the Karlsruhe University of Music is participating in the nationwide joint day of action organized by the 24 state music universities on November 27, which is taking place under the motto Art. Power. Humanity.
We want our university to be perceived as a place of respectful interaction and appreciation among all students, teachers, and administrative and technical staff.
As part of the action day, there will be a lecture by Prof. Kay Berkling, Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW), on the topic of the action day at 2 p.m. in the Marstall, followed by a discussion.
The event is open to all students, teachers, and technical and administrative staff. We look forward to seeing as many people from the university as possible participating, contributing ideas, and sharing their thoughts on this day!
The action day is intended to be a starting point for further events and workshops on the topics of abuse of power and discrimination at our university.
Background:
On January 19, 2025, the Rectors' Conference of German Music Academies (RKM) met in Berlin. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of preventing and combating abuse of power at German music academies. It was therefore decided to commission an external, cross-university study on manifestations of abuse of power at music academies before the end of this year. The university administrations followed the recommendations of the position paper adopted last year by the RKM Anti-Discrimination Working Group. The aim of the study is to identify effective preventive measures.

As a further measure, a concerted day of action is planned to send a clear signal to the university that abuse of power must be recognized as a problem affecting society as a whole and must not be trivialized, tolerated, or normalized under any circumstances.
