about this event

Wei-Luen Zoe Lee was born in Taoyuan/Taiwan and received her first cello lessons at the age of 13. She attended the music high school for gifted children in Taiwan and began her studies at the University of Music and Theatre Munich in 2014. She continued her bachelor's degree at the Cologne University of Music and Dance, where she was taught by Maria Kliegel and Nadège Rochat. She then completed her master's degree at the Karlsruhe University of Music under Prof. László Fenyö, with whom she is currently completing her soloist exam.
Wei-Luen Zoe Lee is a multiple prizewinner of international competitions, including the Heinz Kunle Competition 2022, the Anton Rubinstein Competition 2020, the Vienna International Music Competition 2020 and the Hermann Büttner Competition 2019. She also received a scholarship from the Boston Music Institute as a professional performance artist. Her musical development has been supported by renowned institutions such as the Zonta Foundation, the Friends of the Karlsruhe University of Music, the DAAD, the Yehudi Menuhin Association and the Live Music Now organisation.
She gained valuable experience as an orchestral musician: Since 2019, she has been principal cellist at the Ettlinger Schlossfestspiele and has performed in opera productions such as ‘Der Freischütz’, ‘Carmen’, ‘Die Fledermaus’ and ‘Die Zauberflöte’, as well as in the musical Revue. In 2020 and 2021 she performed as cello tutti at the Pforzheim City Theatre. In 2021 she performed as solo cellist for BB Promotion GmbH in the Musical Gala project at the Alte Oper Frankfurt. Since 2022, she has been a permanent member of the Kammerphilharmonie Karlsruhe and cellist of the Quantz-Collegium, which regularly performs in the concert series Festliche Serenaden Schloss Favorite in Rastatt-Förch. She also performed
2022 and 2023 as a guest cellist at the Sandkorn-Theater Karlsruhe in the project "Guantanamo - Im Osten liegt Westen" (In the East lies the West).
In addition to her concert activities, Wei-Luen Zoe Lee is intensively involved in music education. She teaches as a lecturer for the Kinderland Baden-Württemberg Foundation at the Karlsruhe University of Music and specifically supports young musicians in grades 9-11 in their technical and interpretative development. From 2024, she will also take on a teaching position as a cello teacher at the Karlsruhe University of Education. In addition to her artistic and pedagogical activities, she is also involved as a co-founder of an institution in Taiwan that prepares young musicians to study music in Germany and accompanies them on their arrival. Through masterclasses, workshops and the organisation of international music festivals, she is actively involved in promoting young talent. Germany not only provided her with a high-calibre musical education, but also laid the foundation for her multifaceted career as a musician and entrepreneur - an experience for which she feels great gratitude.
