Yoerae Kim began taking her first violin lessons in South Korea at the age of four. From 1999 to 2007, she was a junior student at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest under Prof. Andras Kiss and Prof. Miklos Szenthelyi. She graduated in 2012 from the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts in the class of Prof. Roman Nodel.

From 2012, she was initially a scholarship holder and later a section violinist in the first violins of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich under Maestro Mariss Jansons. She gained experience under Simon Rattle, Zubin Mehta and Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and performed in Europe’s major concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and many
others.

During the 2017/18 season, she was engaged as first concertmaster at the Staatstheater Kassel. From 2018 to 2021, Yoerae Kim devoted herself intensively to her solo and chamber music career and studied for her soloist diploma under Prof. Christian Ostertag at the Karlsruhe University of Music. In the same year, she also won first prize in the competition for the Rainer Koch Memorial Prize organised by Kulturfonds Baden e.V. for her impressive interpretation of a work
by Wolfgang Rihm, as well as first prize in the ‘Piano Trio’ category at the Dr Hermann Büttner Piano Competition in 2019.

She was a scholarship holder of the Albert Eckstein Foundation, which provided her with a violin by Francesco Gobetti (1720). In 2020, she was awarded the Karlsruhe University Prize. Since 2021, Yoerae Kim has been second concertmaster with the Rhineland-Palatinate State Philharmonic Orchestra.

In April 2026, Yoerea Kim was appointed Professor of Violin at the Karlsruhe University of Music.
