
Italian pianist Matteo Pirola was born in Erba and completed his piano studies at the G. Verdi Conservatory of Music in Como.
Masterclasses with internationally renowned pianists and conductors such as Aldo Ciccolini, Richard Bonynge, Natalia Troull, Vsevolod Dvorkin, and Vincenzo Balzani provided him with important artistic inspiration. Matteo Pirola has won several piano and song competitions, including the C. Vidusso Piano Competition in Milan. After completing his master's degree, he continued his training in accompaniment at the International Academy of Voice in Cardiff (Wales) and at the Flanders Opera Studio in Ghent (Belgium). He was then engaged as an accompanist at the International Opera Studio at the State Theater in Nuremberg. This was followed by an engagement as solo répétiteur and assistant to principal conductor Alexander Soddy at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt (Austria), where, in addition to his work as a pianist, he took over the musical direction of the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra at various family concerts. He also made guest appearances in various opera productions at the Vlaamse Opera in Ghent and Antwerp (Belgium) and at the Opera Festival in Heidenheim. From 2010 to 2017, he was a guest professor for the Italian repertoire at the International Opera Academy in Ghent (Belgium). From 2017 to 2024, Matteo Pirola was engaged as a solo répétiteur and deputy director of studies at the Mannheim National Theater and is regularly invited to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich as a guest répétiteur. Matteo has been a
lecturer in opera répétition at the Institute for Music Theater since April 2024.
