Marie-Luise Bodendorff began her concert career at the age of six. In 2000 she began her studies at the University of Music in Karlsruhe, Prof. Olga Rissin-Morenova, from 2002 she studied at the University of Music, Theatre and Media in Hanover, Prof. Wladimir Krajnew (graduating with top marks) and studied as a soloist, Prof. Christopher Oakden. After attending the Paris Conservatoire, thanks to the Erasmus exchange programme in 2008, Prof. Brigitte Engerer, she completed her further soloist studies in 2014 at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, Prof. Niklas Sivelöv. This was immediately followed by a teaching position in piano and chamber music, which she held until 2024. She has been a lecturer at the University of Music in Karlsruhe since 2023.

She is in demand as a soloist in Germany and abroad and has performed with the Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim, the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester, the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, the Folkwang Kammerorchester, the Preußisches Kammerorchester and the Bacau Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.

She is also in great demand as a chamber music partner and has also given masterclasses in Denmark, Poland and most recently in 2024 at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Marie-Luise Bodendorff has won numerous national and international competitions since 1992:

  • V. International Competition for Young Pianists in Rome (1992)
  • 1st prize with maximum points in the national competition ‘Jugend musiziert’ (1999)
  • Finalist at the 1st International Grieg Competition (2000)
  • International Seiler Piano Competition (2005)
  • Scholarship of the German Music Competition (2011)
  • 1st prize at the International Piano Competition in Ischia/Italy 2018
  • 1st prize at the 34th International Piano Competition in Albenga/Italy 2021

In 2021 and 2022 she released her first two CDs with piano works by Friedrich Kuhlau, which received excellent reviews; a CD box with works for four hands will be released in 2026. In addition, the ARS label will release a CD with piano music by Niels Wilhelm Gade in May of this year.
