The pianist Hyunhee Hwang was born in Seoul, South Korea. She started playing the piano at the age of 6.
She studied piano with Ms Sun-Won Ha and studied at Hansei University in the Bachelor's degree programme in the class of Prof. Igaki Hideyuki and from 2014 at the Karlsruhe University of Music in the Master's degree programme in the class of Prof. Roman Zaslavsky and graduated with distinction. Since 2017 she studied for piano solo in the soloist exam course and since 2021 she studies for piano chamber music in the soloist exam course in the class of Prof. Markus Stange.
She received additional impulses at master classes with Oxana Yablonskaya, Pascal Devoyon, Christin Wilm Müller, Eldar Nebolsin, Hui-Youn Choi, Menahem Pressler and Thomas Kreuzberger and as a member of the Absolute Classic Festival Orchestra with conductor Hanna Chang and Musik Alps Seong-Nam with professors of the Zurich University of the Arts.
She won the 1st prize at the "Concorso Internazionale per musicisti. Campochiaro", 1st prize at the "Seoul Royal Symphony Orchestra Seoul" and "Concorso Internazionale di Esecuzione Don Vincenzo Vitti". She is also a laureate of the "Dr.Hermann Büttner Piano Competition "2018 in the category piano solo and 2021 in the category piano quartet, "Korea Germany Brahms Association", "Concorso Internazionale per Giovani Musicisti "Città di Barletta".
In Spain in 2016, she performed the W.A.Mozart Piano Concerto No.23 KV.488 in A major, accompanied by the Kyiv Chamber Orchestra conducted by Dmitry Yablinsky.
She was a répétiteur alongside her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe and she was a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation" Live Musik Now Oberrhein".
She currently teaches piano and piano chamber music as an assistant in the class of Prof. Markus Stange and she is a lecturer in compulsory piano at the Karlsruhe University of Music.
