The Future of Music Journalism LIVE SHOW

ZUM GOLDENEN EGO
Personality in music journalism

February 5, 2026, 4:00 p.m. | Live show from the Institute for Music Journalism

Welcome to “Zum Goldenen Ego” – it sounds like the local bar next door, and that's exactly how it should feel. It's a place where we can be ourselves and, together with our guests, get to the bottom of a question: How much personality does good journalism need?

We, the third-semester master's students at the Institute for Music Journalism at the Karlsruhe University of Music, cordially invite you to a 90-minute live show.

Between the bar and the thesis, we ask ourselves: What exactly is the golden ego – that perfect personality needed to survive in the media business? How much of ourselves do we have to give up to be professional, and what role does personality play in the age of AI and algorithms?

In reports, live talks, and interactive games, we explore these questions together with experts from the industry. From coaching methods to language barriers to social media, we tap into the topics that shape our future in music journalism and try to find our own way between authenticity and conformity.

So, pull up a bar stool, order a drink, and join us at “Zum Goldenen Ego.” This isn't just a place to get a drink; it's a place to talk about what moves us. Save the date and activate the notification for the livestream! More details coming soon!
