Mozartfest Würzburg - MozartLabor 2023

In the summer semester of 2023, the students of the 4th semester Bachelor of the Institute for Music Journalism at the Karlsruhe University of Music were present at this year's Mozart Festival in Würzburg and accompanied the pianist Ragna Schirmer in the MozartLabor with the camera. The students were supervised by our lecturers Dorothee Riemer and Karsten Kurwoski.

Here we are all learners. This is how pianist Ragna Schirmer describes the MozartLabor, which takes place annually as part of the Mozartfest. In various sections and in numerous panel discussions, everything revolves around the topic of music for four days. How does one write about music, what could it look like in the future and is musical education a fundamental right? And of course there will also be a lot of music-making. In the chamber music section this year, Ragna Schirmer worked with four young musicians on Mozart's Quintet in E-flat major KV 452.
