in the winter semester 2021/22

The Scholarship Concert of the Circle of Friends

We are pleased to present the scholarship concert of the Friends of the Karlsruhe University of Music, which unfortunately was not allowed to take place in front of an audience due to the Corona pandemic in the past summer semester of 2021. Selected students and ensembles of the Karlsruhe University of Music who were awarded a scholarship by the Circle of Friends can be heard and seen in this video production.
The programme included works by Péter Eötvös, Maurice Ravel, George Frideric Handel, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Kerry Turner and Ary de Resende Barroso. The video production was technically and editorially supervised by students of the 2nd semester Bachelor of the Institute for Music Journalism under the direction of Prof. Maximilian Richter. The programme was moderated by the Chairman of the Circle of Friends, Dr. h. c. Hans Hachmann.

Dr. h. c. Hans Hachmann in conversation with Brandt Attema, Professor of Trombone.

In this conversation, the chairman of the Circle of Friends, Dr. h.c. Hans Hachmann, talks to Professor Brandt Attema, who teaches the trombone class at the Karlsruhe University of Music and gives insights into his life and musical work.

As the successor to Werner Schrietter, the Dutch bass trombonist Brandt Attema has been a professor at the Karlsruhe University of Music since October 2019. Attema, in addition to versatile activities in prominent ensembles in his homeland, has been successfully touring worldwide for many years as a duo with harpist Astrid Haring.

Dr. h. c. Hans Hachmann in conversation with Julius Kircher, Professor of Clarinet.

On 27 April 2021, Dr. h. c. Hans Hachmann invited Prof. Julius Kircher to a conversation in MutProbe 1.

As the successor to Wolfgang Meyer and Georg Arzberger respectively, Julius Kircher has been a professor of clarinet at the Karlsruhe University of Music since October 2019. In addition to various positions as solo clarinettist in renowned orchestras, Kircher has made a name for himself as a member of the internationally award-winning wind quintet Alcega. In conversation with Hans Hachmann, chairman of the Friends of the University, he introduces himself, his work and his instrument with sound samples.
