The Young ClassX - Musikmobil
Since 2015, the Karlsruhe University of Music has been the second location after Hamburg to offer this Young ClassX module. The MusikMobil picks up pupils in grades 1 to 13 from their schools and takes them to musical and cultural events such as concerts, rehearsals and guided tours at important cultural institutions in Karlsruhe and the surrounding area. Thanks to financial support from the Witt Group, the trips are free of charge. The programme is organised by The Young ClassX module coordination team at the Karlsruhe University of Music.
The MusikMobil seminar is part of the music education programme and is supervised by Dr Cornelia Wild (wild@hfm-karlsruhe.de)). In this practice-oriented seminar, students develop artistic-educational concepts under the guidance of Sophie-Louise Stengel and implement them with school classes in the MusikMobil. Students from all disciplines actively design MusikMobil trips and professionally prepare young passengers on the bus for the events they are going to attend – with the aim of getting children and young people, especially those without access, excited about music and breaking down barriers. Participation in MusikMobil trips is at the initiative of the schools, which can apply for trips online in the MusikMobil calendar.
The MusikMobil Karlsruhe's destinations include the Toccarion Baden-Baden, the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the German Music Automaton Museum in Bruchsal and the BASF Kulturfabrik.
The Young ClassX, a music promotion programme that has won multiple awards nationwide, was initiated by the Otto Group and Salut Salon in 2008. It has reached over 30,000 children and young people and has received numerous awards. It is under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Michael Otto and the First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. In Hamburg, children and young people sing in ensembles, receive instrumental lessons or are taken to where the music is playing in the MusikMobil.
‘That was the best Friday of my whole life.’ (Arzu, 14, after the MusikMobil trip to the ZKM Karlsruhe).
