From October 12-15, 2023, the tenth version of the festival will cross the city's stages. It is curated by the ALEPH Guitar Quartet, which celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year. On the occasion of this anniversary, it invites esteemed musicians, composers to Karlsruhe.

Andrés Hernández Alba and Wolfgang Sehringer founded the ALEPH Guitar Quartet during their studies, in 2009 Tillmann Reinbeck joined them, Christian Wernicke in 2011. In intensive exchange with composers, sound engineers, acousticians they work on advancing the musical language and playing techniques of the 20th and 21st century. The ALEPH Guitar Quartet has premiered more than 65 works by contemporary composers.

The anniversary concert will feature very special miniatures for ALEPH - musical birthday greetings written for the occasion by composers with whom the ALEPH Guitar Quartet has an artistic collaboration. The works of these composers form the creative nucleus of all concerts of the festival. Many of these works were created together with the ALEPH Guitar Quartet at the ZKM l Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, which is an artistic home for the quartet.

For the concerts, the ALEPH Guitar Quartet has invited top-class musicians and ensembles who, like ALEPH, are dedicated to chamber music: Soprano Daisy Press from New York City, Pony Says from Stuttgart and the Hamburg trio Catch. Karlsruhe is home to LAB51, consisting of the singer Johanna Vargas and the pianist Magdalena Cerezo Falces, the CoroPiccolo Karlsruhe and its conductor Christian-Markus Raiser, the ensemble TEMA, which has been associated with the Festival ZeitGenuss
from the beginning, the Ensemble for New Music of the Karlsruhe University of Music, led by Manuel Nawri, and the Badische Staatskapelle, conducted by Ulrich Wagner, with the NachtKlänge.

ZeitGenuss 2023 takes a stand at several locations in the city: Most of the performances take place at the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, as the ALEPH Guitar Quartet has been cooperating with the ZKM | Hertz Laboratory since 2007. Other concert venues include the Wolfgang Rihm Forum of the Karlsruhe University of Music, the Protestant City Church on Marktplatz, the studio of the Badisches Staatstheater and the newly opened Jazzclub in the Kaiserpassage.
