Yuki Chiba, a Master’s student in Professor Julius Kircher’s clarinet class, is to take up the post of deputy principal clarinettist with the Ulm Philharmonic Orchestra for an initial period of one year.
Yuki Chiba was born in Japan and completed her Bachelor’s degree at the Tokyo College of Music. She is now studying for a Master’s degree at the Karlsruhe University of Music under Prof. Julius Kircher. She has gained orchestral experience in Germany with, amongst others, the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe, the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn and the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern. As a chamber musician, she is a prize-winner at four international chamber music competitions, having been awarded first prize at each.
Since the 2026/2027 season, she has held a fixed-term contract as deputy principal clarinettist with the Ulm Philharmonic Orchestra. She is also an apprentice with the German State Philharmonic Orchestra of Rhineland-Palatinate.
