Two prizes at the Carl Flesch Academy
Lara Eberitzsch, a pre-college student studying violin with Prof. Laurent Albrecht Breuninger, has won the Werner Stiefel Prize. This main prize is worth 3,500 euros and includes a solo concert performance at the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Hall as part of the season opening of the Patronage Society for Theatre and Philharmonic Hall Baden-Baden on Saturday, 19 September 2026, 10.30–11.30 am.
Hana Rabadan, a Bachelor’s student in Prof. László Fenyő’s cello class, has won the Stennebrüggen Prize. The prize is worth 1,000 euros and includes an engagement in a concert with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, sponsored by the Friederike Kroes Foundation. The prize is named after the Stennebrüggen family, whose members have supported the Baden-Baden Philharmonic as orchestral musicians and soloists since 1860. The prize is awarded by the members of the Baden-Baden Philharmonic.
Lara Eberitzsch was born in Karlsruhe in 2011. She has been taking violin lessons with Yefim Shkolnyk since 2016 and, since 2025, at the Pre-College of the Karlsruhe University of Music with Prof. Laurent Albrecht Breuninger.
She has successfully taken part in numerous music competitions: she has won first prize 11 times, each time with the maximum score, in regional and state competitions in the solo and chamber music categories of ‘Jugend musiziert’. In 2024, she won first prize with the highest marks in the piano and string instrument duo category at the national ‘Jugend musiziert’ competition and performed at the final concert for the first-prize winners in Lübeck. In 2025, she once again won first prizes in both the solo and piano trio categories at the national ‘Jugend musiziert’ competition. At the national Carl Bechstein Competition in Berlin in 2021, she won third prize in the violin and piano duo category as one of the youngest participants in her age group. Lara won the gold prize for chamber music at the Classical Stars International Music Competition in 2024 and another gold prize in the violin solo category at the Amadeus International Music Awards in 2025. As the youngest participant at the Carl Flesch Academy in 2026, she won the Werner Stiefel Prize, worth €3,500, which includes a solo concert performance with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the season opening of the Patronage Society for Theatre and Philharmonic Orchestra Baden-Baden on Saturday 19 September 2026.
She took part in masterclasses with Prof. Markus Stange in 2023, Prof. Dr Saule Tatubaeva in 2024, Prof. Roberto Domingos in 2024, Prof. Sontraud Speidel in 2025 and Prof. Elena Graf in 2025. She has been playing in the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Orchestra since April 2025, and has been a concertmaster since 2026.
Since 2024, Lara has been playing a violin marked ‘Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi, Milan 1750’, on loan from the Baden-Württemberg State Collection.
She is a scholarship holder of the Riemschneider Foundation, the Jürgen Ponto Foundation and Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now.
Hana Rabadan was born in Zagreb, Croatia, in 2007 and began playing the cello at the age of seven. In 2024, she completed her studies at the Vatroslav Lisinski Music School in Zagreb in the class of Professor Dalibor Crnogorac. She is currently studying at the Karlsruhe University of Music in the class of Professor László Fenyő.
She has won prizes at numerous national and international competitions. Of particular note is the Boris Papandopulo Competition, where Hana, aged 16, was named the youngest laureate in the competition’s history.
In addition, she attended the Carl Flesch Academy in July 2026 and performed as a soloist with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra. There she was awarded the Stennebrüggen Prize, which is presented by the members of the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra.
Hana plays a cello by Pietro Guarneri dating from 1725, which has been made available to her by the Karlsruhe University of Music.
