Vanessa Auer, a reporter on the morning show, wants to learn how to play the hookline of a Grammy-nominated song on the saxophone in just one week – without any prior knowledge of the instrument. Saxophonist, bass clarinettist, composer and arranger Peter Lehel teaches saxophone, jazz theory, big band and ensemble at the Karlsruhe University of Music. He agrees to take part in this experiment and guides the reporter through her first attempts on the instrument. The goal is for Vanessa Auer to learn this chorus by Friday. Her first attempts can be heard on the SWR3 morning show on Tuesday, 27 January between 8.30 and 9.50 a.m., and on Friday, after five days of practice, the result can be heard again at around 8.30 a.m. on FM or SWR3 web radio.
