Sound spaces

What can be heard in the buildings and imaginary spaces depicted? What sounds does the constructed resonance space produce? What might it sound like in and around the architectures?

Based on selected works from the exhibition, students from the Karlsruhe University of Music created sound spaces that provide expanded access: the buildings and interiors can be experienced not only visually but also acoustically. In the form of soundscapes, background noise and musical inventions, the students expand the architectural installations and works to include a sensory-auditory dimension. The sound interpretations open up new ways for visitors to experience the artworks – beyond the visible. The sound collages were created in the interdisciplinary seminar “Music History in a Cultural Context” in the summer semester of 2025 under the direction of Prof. Dr. Peter Overbeck and Margit Fritz, M.A.
