Shuyu Meng wins first prize at the FIPMA Málaga International Piano Festival

Shuyu Meng, a Bachelor’s student in Prof. Lauma Skride’s piano class, won first prize – worth 200 euros – in the solo piano category at the FIPMA Málaga International Piano Festival.

Shuyu Meng was born in China. She began playing the piano at the age of five and, from the age of ten, took lessons with Professor Hong Fu. From 2020 to 2025, she studied at the China Conservatoire’s Secondary School of Music. Since 2026, she has been studying for a Bachelor’s degree in piano at the Karlsruhe University of Music under Professor Lauma Skride. She has won prizes at numerous national and international piano competitions, including First Prize at the 25th Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition, an Honourable Mention in the final of the 2024 Singapore International Piano Competition, and First Prize in the Special Ensemble Group E at the 2024 Hummingbird Music Prize in Beijing. As well as performing as a soloist, she is also dedicated to chamber music and regularly takes part in masterclasses and concert performances.
