Prizes at the 5th International Helmut Deutsch Song Competition

First prize at the 5th International Helmut Deutsch Song Competition for songs by Franz Schubert, Hugo Wolf, Gustav Mahler and Johanna Müller-Hermann went to Chinese bass-baritone Bo Wang (who studies with Roman Trekel in Berlin) in a duo with his piano partner Yuriko Watanabe (Lied class piano Prof. Hartmut Höll). Second prize and a special prize went to mezzo-soprano Katharina Bierweiler (class of Prof. Christiane Libor and Prof. Stephan Klemm in Karlsruhe) with her ambitious piano partner Jyri Mishukov (studying concert performance in Lied interpretation with Prof. Hartmut Höll). Jyri Mishukov was also awarded second prize for piano.
