“music to go” has been canceled due to the heat

Cool Alternative Program on Saturday in Oststadt

The popular music event “Karlsruhe klingt – music to go,” in which students and faculty from the Karlsruhe University of Music bring music from lecture halls and rehearsal rooms to public spaces in downtown Karlsruhe, cannot take place as planned due to the ongoing official heat warning and forecasted temperatures of up to 40 degrees. The concerts scheduled for this Saturday, June 27, at various locations in downtown Karlsruhe have been canceled.

Therefore, a “cool” alternative program will begin on Saturday at 4:15 p.m.: The percussion class will present its walking act “Samba batucada,” starting from the Karlsruhe University of Music campus, passing through the neighboring Alter Schlachthof, and returning, luring visitors toward the university’s MUT building in the style of the Pied Piper. There, starting at 5:00 p.m. in the air-conditioned Wolfgang-Rihm-Forum, the HfM’s wind ensemble, conducted by Prof. Will Sanders, will perform a concert featuring spirited Brazilian music under the motto “BRASSillísimo.”

Admission is free.

“Karlsruhe Sounds – music to go” is a joint project of the Karlsruhe University of Music and the city marketing department of KME Karlsruhe Marketing und Event GmbH. Once again this year, Karlsruhe’s Mayor, Dr. Frank Mentrup, served as patron of the event.
