Leander Hennes Resch wins third prize at the 23rd International Georg Philipp Telemann Violin Competition

Leander Hennes Resch, a PreCollege violin student in Prof. Laurent Albrecht Breuninger’s class, has won third prize, worth 1,900 Polish zloty, at the 23rd International Georg Philipp Telemann Violin Competition

At the age of five, Leander Hennes Resch received his first violin lessons at the Südliche Weinstraße District Music School. Following further musical development under the guidance of Mr Marc Bender, Ms Susanne Reiner and Mr Mischa Kibardin, he has now commenced his studies with Prof. Laurent Albrecht Breuninger at the Karlsruhe University of Music. At the age of seven, he made his debut with the Wissembourg Chamber Orchestra, performing ‘Spring’ from Antonio Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’.

He has furthered his artistic development through masterclasses with Prof. Viviane Hagner, Prof. Boris Garlitsky, Mr Hrachya Avanesyan and Prof. Elena Graf, as well as workshops with Prof. Ingolf Turban and the Notos Quartet. He has also received tuition from Prof. Ulf Hölscher.

Leander Hennes Resch has been awarded prizes and special prizes at a wide range of national and international competitions; among others, he received the 1st Premio Assoluto at the 4th Domenico Savino International Music Competition in Italy in 2021, the Absolute First Prize at the Suiss International Music Competition in 2021, the 1st Prize at the 13th Savshinsky International Music Competition in St Petersburg in 2022, the 1st Prize at the String Competition Online in Poland in 2023, as well as 1st Prizes and special prizes at the Opus International Competition in Poland, the Georges Bizet International Music Competition in England and the American Classical Music Awards in New York in 2024.

In 2025, at the Premio Rovere d’oro international competition in Italy, he was awarded not only an overall First Prize in the Junior category but also a First Prize in the Senior category. In addition to performances with the Wissembourg Chamber Orchestra and the Hanover Federal Police Orchestra, his concert engagements have already taken him to such renowned venues as the Centre for Fine Arts (BOZAR) in Brussels, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Beethoven Haus in Bonn, the Philharmonie de Paris and the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York. Leander Hennes Resch is the recipient of the Hugo Neff Memorial Prize and a scholarship holder of the Josef David Foundation. Furthermore, he has been a scholarship holder with Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now Oberrhein (Upper Rhine) since 2025.
