Biography

Yoo-Kyung Han was born in Seoul, Republic of Korea. After graduating from Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School, she continued her musical education in Germany. She completed the Diploma in Music Education (Diplom der Musikerziehung) and the Performance Diploma (Konzertreife Diplom) at the Musikhochschule des Saarlandes. She subsequently studied piano at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe with Professor Sontraud Speidel and completed the Concert Soloist Diploma (Konzertexamen) with highest distinction.

During her studies, she won numerous prizes in national and international competitions, including First Prize at the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Paris. She also received awards at the International Carlo-Soliva Competition in Casale Monferrato, Italy, as well as at competitions organised by the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe. After
completing her studies, she served as a Lehrbeauftragte at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe. Her concert activities have taken her to numerous countries and cities throughout Europe, where she has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician. She participated in several radio recordings for Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) and Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR). In addition, she has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Orchestre de Chambre Jean-Wiener and the Polish Chamber Orchestra. After returning to Korea, she continued her international recording activities and produced a
CD at the studios of Baden-Baden Radio, which was released under the Podium-Wendel label. She is currently an active member of Pianopodium Karlsruhe e.V. and has been invited as a faculty member to international music academies and festivals, including the Wiener Musikseminar in Austria, as well as courses and festivals in Kleve, Germany, Fontenay-le-Comte, Festival Musicalp Tignes, and the Académie de Nice in France. She has also served as a jury member for several prestigious international competitions, including the Wolfgang Hofmann Competition, the Béla Bartók Competition, and the Violeta Dinescu Competition in Germany, the Cagliari International Competition in Italy, and the International E-Competition in the United States.

Following her return to Korea, she served as a Teaching Professor at the Korea National University of Arts (KNUA). In addition, she taught at the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts and at the College of Music, Yonsei University, where she also held the position of Visiting Professor. She is currently a Visiting Professor of Piano at Ewha Womans University.
