about this event
This year, Bläserwelten is focussing on the theme of ‘feeling at home’. Music can often help us to feel at home – a feeling that we often owe to composers who express through their works how much they miss their homeland.
An impressive example of this is Jacob Collier, who aptly named his piece ‘Home is’. In his song ‘Der Doppelgänger’, Franz Schubert sets to music the memory of a past home that was once familiar to him. And the Brazilian composition ‘Carinhoso’ musically embodies the concept of ‘saudade’ – a deeply felt longing for something lost or unattainable.
