This competition is about the connection of classical music with other genres: Classical clarinet in relation to different musical styles
(e.g. jazz) or art forms (e.g. literature, dance). A unique idea is already the first step of the competition.

Conditions of participation
The international competition is open to young clarinet players as soloists or together with their ensemble partners. Participation is limited for artists age 35 and under. The deadline for applications is July 1st 2024.
The following must be submitted with the application:
· an uncut video of up to 20 minutes in duration. The video should show an excerpt of the program for the second round, as well as the program idea. (Format e.g. YouTube/mp4 file)
· a completed application form (including the applicant’s consent to, among other things, image and sound recordings during the competition and the concerts)
· biographies of all participating artists (max. 1.000 characters, running text form)
· a photo (resolution min. 300 dpi)
· a copy of passport or identity card for each participating person
· the name of the work to be performed, including the name of the composer/arranger and
the publisher, as well as, if applicable, a commentary for the jury.

All applicants will receive a confirmation as soon as their application has been received.
Incomplete entries will be deemed invalid and not be considered.

Procedure and repertoire
A maximum of 6 to 8 of the submitted videos will be selected for an invitation to the second round which will take place in person. The jury will make their selection by July 30th, 2024. The selected candidates of the second round will be informed immediately after. The program to be presented in the 2nd round should last approximately 45 minutes. The set-up time should not exceed 20 minutes. For ensembles with piano: Please state in your application if an instrument has to be prepared or be played in the instrument.

Final concert
Tuesday, September 24th, 2024 - 7:30 p.m.

The three best participants/ensembles must present themselves at the final concert.

Award announcement and prize money
The jury will decide on the distribution of the prize money of €10.000 donated by the sponsoring organization the Lions Club Karlsruhe.
The winner or the winners of the prize awarded by the audience (€1000) will be determined at the final concert. He or she will perform another concert on the following day, Wednesday, September 25th, 2024, at Hemingway Lounge Karlsruhe. This concert is organized by KlangKunst e.V. who will award the audience prize on site.
