JiHun Hong was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1995. She began playing the piano at the age of 7. At the age of 10, she first received lessons at the Yewon School and the Seoul Arts High School. She was then able to enrol at Yonsei University as a bachelor's student due to her outstanding performance. At that time, she received a full scholarship that accompanied her throughout her studies. 
In 2019, she began her master's degree with Prof. Roberto Domingos at the Karlsruhe University of Music, which she successfully completed. Since 2021, she has continued her studies in the soloist exam programme with Prof. Roberto Domingos. She has attended many masterclasses, including with Ralf Gothóni, Peter Lang, Gerhard Oppitz, Arkadi Zenzipér, Kaya Han, Patrick O'Byrne, Jacob Leuschner and Edward Auer. She has won prizes at numerous international competitions. Among others, she won the Grand Prix at the international Art Piano competition in the Ukraine. Other awards include 1st prize at the Fanny Mendelssohn International Competition 2023, UK International Music Competition in England 2023, AD Libitum International Competition 2023, London Classic Music International Competition in London 2023, Euterpe Music Awards International Competition in Germany 2023, Birmingham International Music Competition in England 2022, France Music International Competition in France 2022, Dr Hermann Büttner Piano Competition in Karlsruhe 2022,Beethoven Young Musician International Competition in Vienna 2022, Moscow International Music Competition in Moscow 2022 and at the International Premier Music Competition in Hungary 2021. 
She has performed as a soloist with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz at the Wolfgang Rihm Forum and the Insiem Philharmonic Orchestra at the Seoul Arts Centre, among others. 
JiHun Hong was sponsored by the Heinrich Hertz Foundation and received support from the Adler-Büttner Foundation, as well as the DAAD scholarship and the PROMOS scholarship.
