Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart learned to play the violin and piano at the age of four and was already composing his own pieces of music as a child. As a child prodigy, little ‘Wolferl’ was admired and marvelled at from an early age, and he was no older than six when his father took him and his older sister Maria Anna on a long concert tour through Europe. However, life as a child star in the 18th century was exhausting, as travelling between European cities by horse-drawn carriage often took several weeks. Unfortunately, playing music and composing did not bring in much money, as the young Mozart discovered. Despite his exhaustion, he composed incessantly and enthusiastically, preferably for the opera stage.

Together with the students of the Institute for Music Theatre, the audience is taken on a journey with both the child Wolferl and the adult opera composer Mozart, and gets to know not only his sister and father, but also Empress Maria Theresa. Some opera characters also appear and want to have their say – pardon, sing along!
