Fabrik Quartet

Based in Frankfurt, the Fabrik Quartet is distinguished by its committed, imaginative and fearless approach to contemporary music. Founded in 2022 at the International Ensemble Modern Academy following an intensive engagement with Iannis Xenakis’ Tetras, the ensemble is united by a shared artistic vision and a deep dedication to expanding the expressive possibilities of the string quartet.
Since its formation, the quartet has received numerous awards, including First Prize at the International Chamber Music Competition “A. Rubinstein” (Düsseldorf) and at the Re_Crea International Competition in Castelló, as well as Second Prize and the Special Prize at the John Cage Award (Halberstadt) in 2024. As recipients of the Kamar Percy and Ingeborg John Foundation Award, they released their debut CD featuring works by Luciano Berio, Wolfgang Rihm, Rebecca Saunders and José Luis Escrivà Córdoba.
The Fabrik Quartet has appeared at leading festivals across Europe and Asia, including ECLAT, Ultraschall Berlin, Acht Brücken, Heidelberg Frühling String Quartet Festival and the PAN Music Festival in Seoul. In 2023, the ensemble performed as soloists with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony under Pierre Bleuse at the closing concert of the Darmstadt Summer Course.
Collaboration with contemporary composers lies at the heart of the quartet’s artistic identity. The ensemble has worked closely with figures such as Helmut Lachenmann, Rebecca Saunders, Liza Lim and George Lewis, while continuously fostering new partnerships with emerging composers.
The quartet is currently pursuing the Konzertexamen at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt with Prof. Lucas Fels and Prof. Tim Vogler.
