Giorgio Mandolesi is principal bassoonist of the Orchestre de Paris, professor of bassoon and baroque bassoon at the Zurich University of the Arts, professor of baroque bassoon at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, guest lecturer at the Pôle Enseignement Supérieur Musique/Danse Bordeaux, at the Liceu Barcelona and at the Royal College of Music of London, and gives masterclasses which are frequently attended worldwide. He studied with Marco Costantini at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome, where he won first prize in 1991, and with Alberto Grazzi at the Scuola Civica di Musica in Milan (first prize in the baroque bassoon category in 1999). Since then he has been principal bassoonist in Italy's major orchestras and plays with the most important ensembles of historical performance practice throughout Europe, including La Petite Bande (Sigiswald Kuijken), Europa Galante (Fabio Biondi), La Grande Ecurie et La Chambre du Roi (Jean-Claude Malgoire) and many others.
