Anita Hoffmann · Thomas Hoffmann piano
Siblings Anita and Thomas Hoffmann began their musical careers at the Frankenthal Music School. There they received their first piano lessons from Professor Leonora Jossiovitch, a student of Samuil Feinberg and former lecturer at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. In addition to basic pianistic skills, she instilled in the siblings a strong love of music. Anita and Thomas formed a piano duo during their time at music school and took part in various national and international concerts and competitions.
In 2012, the two began their piano studies at the University of Music in Karlsruhe; Anita with Ulrike Meyer and Thomas with Professor Kaya Han. Through the influence of their teachers and masterclasses with Françoise Thinat, Christophe Sirodeau and Bruno Canino, among others, they both developed their own musical style. In April 2018, they completed their master's degree in piano solo with honours.
After their solo studies, Anita and Thomas formed a permanent piano duo and studied together for a master's degree and later the concert exam in piano chamber music in Professor Markus Stange's class.
Concert tours have taken them to many parts of the world, including England, France, Norway, Iceland and South America. Their wide-ranging repertoire includes works for piano four-hands, two pianos and solo literature and extends from early baroque music through the classical and romantic periods to modern and contemporary music. They dedicate themselves to the development of new music and new concert concepts with passion and a spirit of innovation. Their commitment also extends to the première of contemporary compositions, making a significant contribution to the development and advancement of contemporary piano music. Engagements at festivals for new music such as the R!SK Festival, EFFEKTE Festival or Zeitgenuss Festival expand their portfolio.
