Der Pianist Alexander Braginsky

Born in Moscow, Alexander Braginsky began his piano studies at the age of four. His first teacher Alexander Goldenweiser, a friend of Rachmaninov and Scriabin, introduced him to the romantic tradition of the 19th century. Concert tours later took Alexander Braginsky through the USSR, to Israel, England, Belgium, Italy, Germany,
Taiwan, China, Spain, France, Cuba and the USA, where he moved to in the early 1970s. Together with his wife, the cellist Tanya Remenikova, he was the first "artist-in-residence" at Churchill College, Cambridge, in 1981. Today he teaches at the University of Minnesota School of Music and is President and Artistic Director of the Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition. Since the 1980s, he has combined piano playing with the possibilities of computer technology. The International Piano-e-Competition has been held every two years since 2002 and focuses on the Disklavier-Pro Pianos developed by Yamaha.
