School music competition 2024 decided
On Sunday, 7 July 2024, the School Music Competition was decided. The participants in the competition, which has been held at the Karlsruhe University of Music for more than 20 years, presented a variety of solo and ensemble programmes, each lasting three quarters of an hour. The jury awarded two prizes: Niklas Läßle was honoured with a second prize of 1,500 euros. He impressed the jury with his pianistic expressiveness, conducted a choir of students from the university fantastically and moderated his contributions in a slightly ironic manner. Hendrik Rekers, who performed on the flute, cello and percussion, was honoured with first prize and can look forward to prize money of 2,500 euros. He succeeded in guiding the audience through a programme that ranged from a Gregorian chorale to heavy metal using skilful dramaturgy. A school band from Heisenberg Gymnasium Ettlingen also took part in the programme.
The competition was made possible by the Freundeskreis der Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe e.V.
