The cellist studied with Christoph Henkel in Freiburg and William Pleeth in London, where she was a member of the New Philharmonia London. Since then, she has been intensively involved with the baroque cello and historical performance practice. Von der Goltz was a member of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, played with the Berlin Baroque Soloists and was principal cellist of the Munich Chamber Orchestra as well as artistic director of the Norwegian orchestra Barokkanerne. She has always been committed to playing the modern and baroque cello on an equal footing. Kristin von der Goltz is Professor of Baroque Cello at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and at the Munich University of Music and Theatre.
