Der Pianist Christophe Sirodeau

"An understanding of musical content and style that will be hard to surpass... ...phenomenal." (MusicWeb international)

"An immensely persuasive interpret." (The Guardian)

The pianist and composer Christophe Sirodeau studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and at the Paris Conservatory. His teacher in Russia was the Neuhaus student Yevgeny Malinin. As a pianist, Sirodeau enjoys worldwide recognition for the depth and intensity of his interpretations, which are combined with a brilliant technique. Concert tours have taken him throughout Europe. As a soloist he has played with orchestras such as the Helsinki Philharmonic, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the orchestras of Jyväskylä and Mikkeli. A close collaboration connected him with the conductor Leif Segerstam. Christophe Sirodeau is constantly searching for forgotten masterpieces of the piano literature. He played a decisive role in the rediscovery of the Russian composer Samuil Feinberg, whose Piano Concerto No. 1 he was the first to perform (the recording was released by the US label Altarus Records). His CDs with Feinberg's works (published by BIS) have been acclaimed by the international press. The recording of the complete piano works of Viktor Ullmann has been highly praised in the Guardian and in the professional journals Gramophone, Diapason, International Record Review, Fono Forum, MusicWeb International; it won the "Clef d'Or de l'année 2014" prize from Resmusica and "Coup de coeur" from Radio France Culture. Recently the Melism label released a CD with chamber music by Enescu, Bridge, Busoni, Liszt and others. This was followed in 2019 by the world premiere recording of piano works by Hans Winterberg in conjunction with the long-awaited recording of Feinberg's posthumously published First Violin Sonata, the scores of which Sirodeau edited. In the same year he performed in the "Catoire Konzerte" concert series at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. In June 2020 the French label Melisme released his latest CD recording with works by Johannes Brahms.

The works of the composers Christophe Sirodeau have received international awards, including the 2002 Mozart Competition in Salzburg. His song "L'étoile" based on verses by Arthur Rimbaud was then released by Universal Edition in Vienna.
