LOS AND PDDS FOR POLIFONIA BA INSTRUMENTS, VOCAL, CONDUCTING, COMPOSITION AND MUSIC THEORY

BA Qualification Goal

The BA represents practice-oriented training as a musician or music educator.

Instrumentalists and singers are considered to have acquired appropriate artistic and educational skills and in-depth knowledge of their professional goals. Graduates are considered to have developed a diverse artistic repertoire and be able to convey it in a pedagogically appealing manner.

As BA graduates, conductors and composers must have an artistic, recognizable, and convincing individuality; accordingly, music theorists must have the ability to analyze, present, and convey works from different eras.

BA Study Profile

In addition to artistic and educational skills, a broad range of knowledge in different other fields of music is imparted, such as in musicology, music theory, and improvisation.

The compulsory area is supplemented by a wide range of electives. Specialist features include:

Language skills play a major role for singing majors.

Conductors acquire solid skills in the field of baton technique, rehearsal methodology, accompaniment, and program planning.

Composers acquire basic knowledge of, and critical examination skills about, composition techniques and aesthetics as well as professional relationships such as commercialization and market analysis.

In addition to typesetting techniques and aspects of analysis, music theorists learn self-evident approaches to new media.
