The programme in detail by venue

On the last Saturday in June, the Karlsruhe University of Music's Brazilian festival "I Festival Alemanha Brasil" will culminate in Karlsruhe klingt - music to go.  More than 100 students and lecturers from the Karlsruhe University of Music, together with musicians from UNIRIO and the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, will bring Karlsruhe to life. The varied programme ranges from classical music, jazz and chanson to rock and pop with a focus on Brazilian music. From 10.30 a.m., Isao Nakamura and his percussion class will entice visitors towards the market square with the walking act "Samba batucada". There, weather permitting, the big band of the University of Music under the direction of Peter Lehel will open Karlsruhe klingt - music to go with a groovy funky programme at 11 a.m. Chamber music will be performed in the Kleine Kirche, in the shop window of the Musikhaus Schlaile and in the Passagehof, while friends of the art of singing will get their money's worth in the Badische Landesbibliothek (Baden State Library) with songs, arias and an excerpt from Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro". In the garden of the BLB, a Brazilian ensemble can be experienced with singing, ukulele, percussion and the rarely experienced historical brass instrument ophicleide. The Ludwigsplatz will also have a Brazilian flavour with rhythms and sounds for eight horns and percussion. This will be followed by a woodwind trio and, from 3 p.m., an a cappella pop choir. The saxophone ensemble from the Karlsruhe University of Music will be stirring up the southern Waldstraße and there will be baroque recorder music at the underground station on Marktplatz. A pavilion with a grand piano will be set up on the corner of Kaiserstraße and Ritterstraße. There will be chamber music with piano and, from 2 p.m., exclusively works for solo piano. The crowning finale of the music to go festival day will be a concert by the symphonic wind orchestra under the direction of Marcelo Jardim on the market square. At around 3.30 pm, a rousing Brazilian programme will be performed under the motto "Dança, alegría e diversão".

Karlsruhe klingt - music to go is a joint event organised by the Karlsruhe University of Music and KME Karlsruhe Marketing und Event GmbH.
