Annette Postel received her first singing lessons at the age of twelve. She studied classical singing and vocal pedagogy at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts and, after graduating, privately at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Martha Sharp – and to this day at the Lichtenberg Institute for Functional-Physiological Voice Research with Gisela Rohmert. She has always combined her classical training with acting and cabaret, writing her own texts and musical parodies. She is considered (according to ORF, ZDF, SWR) the "only German-speaking opera comedienne", is the only German 1st prize winner of the Lotte Lenya Singing Competition of the Kurt Weill Society New York and since 2019 probably the only German-speaking tango comedienne. She tours with several chanson and musical cabaret programs, assisted among others by the Salonorchester Schwanen and a string quartet of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. She has released ten CDs, appears on radio and television programs, hosts balls and events, and sings "part-time" classical soprano in oratorios, operas, operettas, and musicals. She also wrote a chanson interpretation guide.
