In the midst of the preparations for the opening of the Horst Günter Library and the song recital on June 6th, we have received the news that Thomas Hampson has to cancel his participation for personal reasons. We regret this very much. In his place, mezzo-soprano Yajie Zhang, whose career has taken an unusually successful course since her operatic debut (2013), will join Hartmut Höll for a song recital under the banner of Gustav Mahler.

Soprano Henriette Schein, a graduate of the Master's programme in Opera Singing at the Institute for Music Theatre (class of Prof. Christiane Libor and Prof. Stephan Klemm) will become a permanent member of the ensemble at the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe from the 2023/24 season. On 27 April this year, the members of the Freundeskreis elected me as their new first chairman. The previous first chairman, Hans Hachmann, had announced his resignation after 22 years.

For Nora Raber, it went a little further away as part of her final project in the master's program in music education, namely across the equator to Uganda. On April 19, the Senate of the Karlsruhe University of Music overwhelmingly elected pianist Prof. Roberto Domingos as the new Prorector for Artistic Affairs. With this election, the area of artistic teaching in the rectorate could again be filled in a representative way.
