An artist portrait on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the death of pianist Dinorah Varsi
Dinorah Varsi was considered a child prodigy and performed in concerts at an early age, encouraged by Erich Kleiber among others. She spent time in the USA in the early 1960s, then went to Paris and Switzerland to study with Géza Anda. Most recently she lived in Davos and Berlin. She won the Jorge de Lalewicz Competition in Buenos Aires in 1959, first prize at the Maria Canals International Music Competition in 1962, and the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Lucerne in 1967. In the midst of the preparations for the opening of the Horst Günter Library and the song recital, we have received the news that Thomas Hampson has to cancel his participation for personal reasons. We regret this very much.
