University of Music Karlsruhe Symphony Orchestra

Guest conductors of international standing are regularly invited to work with the symphony orchestra, including Stefan Asbury, Peter Eötvös, Axel Kober, Lutz Köhler, Ariane Matiakh, Sir Simon Rattle, Jonathan Nott, Christof Perick, Steven Sloane, Mario Venzago, and Ronald Zollman.

Orchestral Skills rehearsals take place once a semester under the direction of Prof. Alois Seidlmeier and involve soloists from the instrumental and vocal sections.

Structured in this way, the quality of orchestral work at the University of Music Karlsruhe is at a consistently high level. This can be seen from the extraordinary public interest displayed at all university orchestra concerts, as well as the readiness with which such partners as the State Philharmonic of Rhineland-Palatinate are eager to participate. In projects such as Rebellion in the Square and Bruckner in the Cathedrals, selected university students participate and gain professional experience.
