Der Posaunist Bart van Lier

Bart van Lier (*1950) is the principal trombonist of the Metropole Orchestra. Since 1968 he has been a member of various orchestras and ensembles, including the Varadansorkest, the Tony Nolte TV Orchestra, The Slide Hampton 4 Trombone Group and the Ramblers. He also plays in Peter Herbolzheimer's Rhythm and Combination and Brass and performs with jazz groups such as Bart's Bones, Nueva Manteca, the Trio Bart van Lier and the Bart van Lier Ilja Reyngoud Quintet. Besides his work as a performer, he has also been active as a teacher for many years. He has taught at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen and at the conservatories of The Hague and Hilversum. He is currently a guest lecturer at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and also gives workshops at home and abroad. As a soloist he can be heard on many CDs. He is the author of the book "Coordination Training Program for Trombone Playing" (1994), which has been translated into five languages. In 1994 the trombone model 'Bart van Lier', built by Kühnl & Hoyer, was presented.
